Actor Carry Dies Harry Leslie Phillips Potter

The British actor known for his roles in the Harry Potter Y Continue franchises, passed away on Monday after a long illness. Leslie Phillips,  was 98.

His agent, Jonathan Lloyd, confirmed to Deadline that Phillips died peacefully in his sleep.

Phillips began acting in the 1930s and had a brilliant career on stage and screen, appearing in a number of British films. Continue comedies of the 20th century and as the voice of the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter Films.

He was nominated for a BAFTA and won a British Independent Film Award for his role in Hanif Kurieshi’s film. Venus in 2006, in which he starred opposite Peter O’Toole, and received the Dilys Powell Award for Excellence in Film from the London Critics Circle in 2007.

Phillips also appeared with Angelina Jolie in the 2001 feature. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
